Hi, Frank.

There’s a list of ’riistanhoitoyhdistykset’ in your area in http://www.riista.fi/pohjois-k…..p;mag_nr=1

They are responsible for arranging tests. You can find dates from riistaweb. There’s a link to all events in each of the areas on the page I linked above. Riistaweb is not the easiest web service to be used, but I trust you will get help to find the dates and places if needed.

Test itself consists of tens of multiple selection questions related to regulations, hunting practices as well as identifying the game.

There are samples of the questions in the web:

* http://www.riista.fi/metstutki…..oitus.html

* http://www.riista.fi/metstutki…..istus.html

Good luck!

Can you post the link to buy the ”mestsästäjän opas” and also to register for the test?

Kiitos!

The book can be bought (f.ex.) from here

http://www.riista.fi/tilaukset…..lected=215

It is also available in Swedish. But not in English, to my knowledge.

Please refer to my earlier message about registering to the test. It is done thru ’riistanhoitoyhdistykset’, regional game management associations (if that is a correct translation…).

The easiest way to participate would probably to contact someone from your own geographical area and check when the tests will be conducted.

Frank,

please bear in mind that it’s possible to use an interpreter while taking the test. At least here in Helsinki. But if it works in one place, it should be the same everywhere else.

Several years back, a friend of mine who had moved to Finland, wanted to take the test. His Finnish girlfriend helped him study the books. When taking the test, I went along to translate the questions for him, with an overseeing official sitting next to us, and it all went well.

Just contact the local authorities. Should be no problem at all.

All you have to do is study 🙂

MfG,

-np.

Hi there!

Would a book from 1993 still be ok?

Kiitos!

Hi there,

I’m Dutch, and also are looking for obtaining a Finnish hunting card.

Thanks for the info so far, although I still have some questions:

– who do I need to contact to find out whether this specific course book is also in the english language (and whether the actual test can be arranged in the english language)?

– can anyone name some bowhunting clubs in/near Espoo/Helsinki/Krikkonummi, preferably clubs that own hunting grounds?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers, R.

Course books are only available in Finnish and Swedish. Also, the test can be made only in Finnish or Swedish. However, as English speaking person it is possible to make the test, too. All you need to do is study well and take a person with you to the test to translate the questions/answers to you.

HELSINKI REGION:

There is also a training course held by helsinging riistanhoitoyhdistys http://www.metsastajatoimisto……ulutus.htm

which is held over 3 evenings in the same week (Tue-Thu 19-21) in Tapanila (next of railways station). The training is held in Finnish, and possibly also in Swedish. As far as I know they have no interest of organizing a training in English, nor translating the test and/or book in English.

Books can be ordered from the same website for 40 euro.

The book I have is published in 2007. I do not know whether there is any change with the 2003 book.

I’m still interested in bow shooting clubs / bow hunting clubs in/near Helsinki/Espoo/Kirkkonummi though. If you know any other than Robin Hood (Espoo) and Artemis (Helsinki), I’d like to read it here 🙂

Cheers!
